Schneider Announces $600,000 Federal Grant for The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL10) announced a $600,000 grant award to the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago. The grant was awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to fund the Bisco Hall renovation at the Center.

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago was established to provide a physical facility where everyone in the Midwest can show their interest in and promote Korean heritage.

"Chicago's Korean Cultural Center is a hub for the Korean-American community throughout my district and around Chicago, a sister city to Korea's city of Busan. I'm thrilled that the National Endowment for the Humanities was able to make this investment in our area and in our Korean-American community. I will continue to do everything I can to support our Korean-American community and promote local artists," said Brad Schneider.

"At the Korean Cultural Center, we are committed to promoting and organizing Korean cultural, arts, educational activities, and strongly encourage cross-cultural understanding that can embrace and empower all people to coexist peacefully. Without this grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the support of Congressman Schneider, projects like Bisco Hall renovation project would be impossible. Now, Korean artists will have the support and space they need to create meaningful works and bring Korean heritage to life in the United States," said Yoon Tae Kim, President of the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago.
